Invisalign in Tucson

How often do I have to wear my aligners?

For your treatment to be most effective, you must wear your aligners for 22 hours daily. You can easily remove your aligners for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing. You also have the freedom to remove them on occasion for a special event or night out.

Are there foods I can’t eat while using Invisalign?

Not at all! You can continue to eat and drink whatever you like, as long as you remove your aligners beforehand. To upkeep good oral hygiene, make sure to brush and floss after every meal, before reapplying your aligners.

Can I chew gum with my aligners?

To avoid the gum sticking to your aligners, we advise removing your aligners before chewing gum.

Will wearing the aligners affect my speech?

Just like with any other orthodontic treatment, you may initially go through a short adjustment period. You will find yourself quickly adjusting to the change, as you continue to speak with aligners on.

Is Invisalign painful?

Invisalign is not painful, but you can expect to feel some pressure and mild discomfort following the first two days of each aligner change. This is a sign that your teeth are adjusting to the new aligner, as it sequentially moves your teeth into the final position.

Will bridges affect my Invisalign?

Bridges are very firm and apply resistance against tooth movement. If you have bridges, consult your orthodontist to see if you qualify for Invisalign treatment.

Can I smoke with my aligners?

We highly discourage smoking with your aligners in. The tobacco product can permanently stain the aligners, and discolor the virtually clear material.

How do I keep my aligners clean?

You can clean your aligners using a toothbrush and toothpaste. Rinse the aligners under lukewarm water. Avoid using any other products on your aligner, as you can run the risk of discoloring or damaging them.

How often do I need to come in for an appointment?

To make sure your Invisalign treatment is on the right track, you should come in for a brief appointment every 6 weeks.

Do I need to wear retainers after my treatment is over?

You will have to wear retainers every night after your Invisalign treatment. Sleeping with your retainer is the best way to ensure long-lasting results and a healthy bite.

How long does the entire Invisalign process take?

Treatment duration varies from person to person, depending on the severity of misalignment. On average, the treatment time is shorter than that of traditional braces, and can take anywhere between six to eighteen months.

What is the minimum age for receiving Invisalign treatment?

A patient can start Invisalign Teen treatment as soon as all of their permanent teeth, including their second molars, have fully erupted. This usually occurs between the ages of 12 and 14.

Are the aligners BPA-free?

Yes, both the Invisalign aligners and the retainers are free of BPA (Bisphenol-A). The aligners are made of medical grade, polyurethane resins. This material is biocompatible and has passed regulatory requirements for human use.
