Dr. Marisela M. Bedoya is a proud native Tucsonan and a passionate orthodontist dedicated to creating healthy, confident, beautiful smiles. At Doctor Smiles Orthodontics, she believes that exceptional orthodontic care goes beyond straightening teeth – it’s about providing personalized treatment, utilizing advanced technology and techniques, and creating an experience where every patient feels genuinely cared for.

Education & Advanced Training

Dr. Bedoya earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree and Certificate in Public Health from A.T. Still University, Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health. She graduated among the top of her class and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society.

During dental school, Dr. Bedoya discovered her passion for orthodontics and the unique combination of science, artistry, precision involved in creating beautiful smiles.

Following dental school, Dr. Bedoya completed an additional 24 months of specialized training in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. Her advanced training earned her a Doctor of Health Science (DHSc) degree and a Certificate in Orthodontics from A.T. Still University, Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health Post-graduate Orthodontic Program.

She is committed to continually advancing her knowledge and skills through extensive continuing education. By staying current with evolving techniques, technology, and treatment philosophies, Dr. Bedoya strives to provide her patients with modern, efficient, and highly personalized orthodontic care.

Advanced Techniques and The Pitts 21 Bracket System

Dr. Bedoya is honored to have been mentored by Dr. Tom Pitts, a highly respected orthodontist and co-innovator of the Damon System. She is also a proud member of Dr. Pitts’ Orthodontic Masters Study Group, an international group of orthodontists dedicated to collaboration, education, and the advancement of orthodontic treatment.

Dr. Bedoya incorporated the Pitts 21 Bracket System into her practice. This advanced bracket system is designed to support efficient tooth movement while emphasizing the esthetics of the smile. One of the principles important to Dr. Bedoya is Smile Arc Protection – creating a natural, attractive relationship between the upper teeth and the contours of the smile.

Her continued education and collaboration with leading orthodontic clinicians allow her to bring advanced treatment concepts and techniques to  her patients here in Tucson.
